Carpenters (also known as The Tan Album) is the third and eponymous album by The Carpenters. Released in 1971, Carpenters contained three hit singles, "For All We Know", "Rainy Days and Mondays", and "Superstar". Carpenters contained relatively softer songs than its two predecessors.
Because the airing of Make Your Own Kind of Music coincided with the release and popularity of Carpenters, The Carpenters performed many of their songs from Carpenters on the TV series. Although the series was short-lived, there remain copies of these lip-synched music videos.

Public reception was very positive. The album went to #2 on Billboard's Top 200, and became a 4x platinum album on April 16, 1998.[1]
